Moving out of LassPass

Time for Change

Since working remotely, for many of us, has become a routine, we must secure our online accounts with strong passwords. Trying to memorize dozens of passwords can be a challenge and using the same old password over and over is dangerous. With all the recent news of security breaches and identity theft, having a unique password for each location can go a long way to ensuring that if one site gets hacked, your stolen password can’t be used on other sites (as proven yet again by the latest CRA security issues, among others). That is why using a password manager is a convenient and safe way to generate, store and use unique and different, for every site, passwords. It can help you seamlessly oversee and handle all your login credentials. They’re also handy for auto filling forms and syncing your data across Windows PCs and Macs, iPhones, iPads, Android phones and more.

What is password manager? It is essentially an encrypted digital vault that stores secure password login information you use to access apps and accounts on your mobile devices, websites and other services. In addition to keeping your identity, credentials and sensitive data safe, the best password manager also has a password generator to create strong, unique passwords and ensure you aren’t using the same password in multiple places. You’re basically creating your own security feature.

One of the more popular products on the market – LassPass, has just increased their pricing. Beginning today, LassPass is starting to charge users who want to use the service across multiple device types. It’s no longer free to use it on both your computer and phone – you had to make a choice. For those of us who use multiple devices: a phone, a tablet, a computer this is a problem. Add to this the fact that web trackers were found in their app and you might be one of the many of us who is looking for alternative options. There are many to choose from and moving from one application to another is not difficult.

All you must do is to export your information out of LassPass into a CSV file (you can find Export under Advanced Account Options) and import it to another.

Online security is a must! Should you rather have a professional IT person help you find a different password manager and deal with moving your data from one application to another (it is OK to seek help – not all of us are comfortable messing around with important files), you can contact us at any time. After all: Everyone does IT, we make IT simple! 😊
