Are you still having Wi-Fi connectivity issues?
We all love Wi-Fi connectivity. The fact that we don’t need to bother with network cables having to be run all over the place makes getting internet or network access to our devices so much more convenient. How often, however, do we complain about how poorly our business or home Wi-Fi coverage is? Even with a great connection to fast internet provided by our ISP, often, there are places in our offices or homes that are not well covered using standard Wi-Fi router that comes with the internet.
The main reason for the poor coverage lays, in some instances, in the structural components of buildings we use as offices or homes. The signal from the standard router, sitting in our basements or in small closets is blocked by metal in our ducts, or frames and has a problem penetrating to the farther points of our spaces. What we need is a device that will help in boosting the signal to cover all the area that needs to be covered. Some of such devices are Wi-Fi extenders and access points and there is a wide variety of those available on the market (bar the current shortages in supply, that is). What we found to work the best, however, especially at home or an office space is a mesh network solution.
What is a mesh network? It is a network that uses multiple points located in different areas covering all the gaps in internet signal. It is designed to blanket the entire area with stable signal by communicating with every other point in the network and adapting signal strength as needed.
Usually one (primary) Wi-Fi point is plugged in into the main router via ethernet cable and others are placed in different rooms/areas and all they require to communicate successfully is power and sufficient distance from the primary point.
Each point complements each other, allowing your devise to pass seamlessly, and without compromising the speed of connection, from accessing one point to another. A good mesh system will allow for prioritizing certain network activities (say, you are on an important zoom call and someone on your network decides to watch online videos and your connection starts freezing – you can set your priority to be the “zoom call” and the network will move its resources to protect your zoom connection speed).
There are many mesh network systems available currently on the market and one should do their research to choose one that best suits their needs (based on things like: the square footage, the speed, the number of devices they support).
